Classes are on the same day for eight (8) consecutive weeks. Weeks 1-6 will be held at Hand / Thrown Studio. Weeks 7-8 will be held at 43rd Street Studios.
The class fee includes a 25-lb bag of clay and firing for that first bag; additional bags of clay can be purchased and will require a $3/lb firing fee. Students will be required to use Standard Clay 182G due to its versatility in firing temperature. Tools are not included in the class fee. Students may bring their own, or purchase a tool kit that they can pick up on the first session of their class.
Students in multi-week classes are given a 4-ft shelf to store their works in progress during each session and can sign up for up to 6 hours of self-guided Open Studio time per week of class. Students will be notified when their wares are ready for pickup.
There is an additional fee for firing wares in the gas kiln at 43rd Street Studios starting at $18. Pricing may vary according to the height of shelves used in the gas kiln.

Meet the Instructors
Kourtenay Plummer (she/her) fell in love with pottery at a young age and chose to study art in college. She graduated from William and Mary with a BA in art and a MaEd in elementary education, and subsequently taught art to both children and adults, for many years in Williamsburg, VA. Like many people during the current pandemic, life presented many challenges and she decided to leave teaching to pursue art full time. Kourtenay is the co-owner of SP Gallery, an art gallery and pottery studio in Amelia, Virginia.
