Scholarships

At Hand / Thrown, we strive to build a creative, accessible and more equitable space for everyone. Enabling artists from underrepresented backgrounds to feel welcomed in our community is of the utmost importance. So we’ve made it our goal to provide more access to pottery, our studio, and the joyful experience of creating with clay. We offer scholarship opportunities for black, indigenous, people of color, queer, trans, low income and disabled students each session that cover the full tuition cost of a multi-week or one-day adult class.

Want to apply? If you’re interested in applying, email us at community@handthrown.studio. Include some info about yourself and what class you’re interested in taking. If you’re brand new to pottery, let us know so we can place you in the appropriate class. All skill levels are welcome to apply, whether you’re a beginner or serious enthusiast! We just ask that recipients accept one scholarship spot per year so we can meet the needs of more people, and hopefully provide more access to clay education.

Scholarship openings: We review applications on a rolling basis and will notify applicants about openings before seasonal class schedules are announced. Right now If you are accepted but are unable to attend, you would need to reapply for the next session. We have 4 sessions per year with plenty of opportunity to get you in a class. We can’t wait to have you learn with us!
