Scholarships

At Hand / Thrown, we strive to build a creative, accessible and more equitable space for everyone. Enabling artists of underrepresented communities to feel welcomed in our community is of the utmost importance. So we’ve made it our goal to provide more access to pottery, our studio, and the joyful experience of creating with clay.

We offer scholarship opportunities for black, indigenous, people of color, queer, trans, low income and disabled students each session that cover the full tuition cost of a multi-week or one day adult class. If you’re interested in applying, email us at community@handthrown.studio. Include some info about you and what class you’re interested in taking. If you’re brand new to pottery, let us know so we can place you in the appropriate class. All skill levels are welcome to apply, whether you’re a beginner or serious enthusiast!

Scholarships are available on a first come basis. We review applications on a rolling basis and will notify applicants 2 weeks before the session begins. If you are accepted but are unable to attend, you would need to reapply for the next session. We have 4 sessions per year with plenty of opportunity to get you in a class. We can’t wait to have you learn with us!
