Open Studio Scheduler

Members, firing clients, and students enrolled in an active multi-week course at Hand / Thrown can sign up for studio access during our Open Studio Hours.

Use this time for working with clay in an open, unguided setting. Studio staff are always present to provide access and implement good practices, answer questions, and offer assistance as needed. Please be respectful of our staff’s time and requests. 

It is your responsibility to clean up your work area at the end of your time in the studio. This means cleaning your table or wheel space, the surrounding area, wiping down any surfaces you may have used, cleaning used ware boards and any studio tools, and disposing of clay/slop in the appropriate fashion. Please leave the space just as you found it. A clean studio is a well functioning studio for everyone! 

NEW! Use Kiln Fire to reserve Open Studio time

Starting in April, we ask that all members, firing clients, and students in multi-week classes create a Kiln Fire account. This will be used for reserving Open Studio access, managing classes and supplies, and keeping track of work. There’s no app to download, as everything is done on your browser on a desktop or mobile device.

If you already have an account, please sign in to Kiln Fire, and navigate to Reservations. Your Kiln Fire account should tell you how much Open Studio time is available to you. Here’s a few things to keep in mind:

• The Open Studio reservation system is live for 7 days at a time.

• There are 2 types of resources to reserve: a wheel (8 slots), or room at the work table for handbuilding and glazing (6 slots). Open Studio capacity is 14 people per hour.

• You can sign up once for consecutive sections of time. With our previous system, you needed to sign up for each hour individually. You can sign up once for a time slot from 2 pm to 6 pm instead of signing up for 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.

• The numbers for each space (e.g., Wheel 1) do not correspond to a specific wheel or seat at the table! We only have these in the app to track available space.

• Firing clients will need to purchase a quantity of hours first in Supplies. The item is only visible when logged in. Once purchased, you can select your time slots.

• Please only sign up for something that you plan to use. With space being limited, we ask that you cancel or reschedule your booking with as much notice as possible if you can’t make it. 

• If the desired date, time, or resource isn’t available, cancellations do occur! Please check back periodically to see if availability has changed.
