Just the Basics - Wheel Throwing


Come join us on the wheel and learn how to throw!

This is the perfect course for your first time throwing on the wheel, or for those who prefer a shorter commitment! This course will cover just the basics: Centering, Throwing, Trimming and Glazing. We'll explore different methods and tools throughout the course. Classes are limited to 6 participants and must be 16 years of age or older.

This is a 4 week course and each session is 2 hours long, there must be 4 students registered to confirm.

Classes are on the same day for four (4) consecutive weeks

All classes are 4 week sessions, 2 hours per session with materials, tools, and firing included in the class fee (additional clay can be purchased if needed). Students are given a shelf to store their works in progress during each session and will be notified when their wares are ready for pickup! Come explore clay with us!


Meet the Instructors

Alexis has been exploring clay in her spare time for 11 years while working as a professional photographer. She focuses on functional wares and has recently completed commissions for Sugar & Twine, Perch, Lucid Living and Accoutre.

Emily has been working in ceramics for 10 years. Since studying Ceramics and Textiles at VCUarts she has taught youth and adult programs in wheel throwing and handbuilding, and currently acts as the Program Coordinator at Quirk Gallery.
