Beginning Handbuilding with Lindsay Wood


A great course for first time handbuilders or experienced enthusiasts!

You’ll create beautiful clay forms using handbuilding techniques including pinch pottery, coiling and slab building. You’ll learn how to use slump and hump molds, as well as how to make molds out of everyday household items. You’ll explore some basic surface decoration techniques using sgraffito, colored slips, and underglaze to finish your work with a bang! Class is limited to 10 participants and must be 12 years of age or older.

This is a 6 week course and each class is 2.5 hours long, there must be 4 students registered to confirm.

Classes are on the same day for four (6) consecutive weeks

This class is a 6 week session, 2.5 hours per session with materials, tools, and firing included in the class fee (additional clay can be purchased if needed). Students are given a 4 ft shelf to store their works in progress during each session and will be notified when their wares are ready for pickup! Come explore clay with us!


Meet the Instructor


Lindsay has been working with clay for nearly 5 years. She creates both functional and decorative pottery using handbuilding practices. Each piece is crafted with intention and carved with imagery inspired by nature, spirituality, and personal experiences. Some of her favorite wares to make include mugs, platters, bowls, planters, candle stands and magnets.
